Penthouse and penthouse above / Piazza Navona, Rome
Complex design of a three-storey house situated in the heart of historic Rome, a few steps from the Pantheon. The articulation of space, for all three floors in a tale of architectural episodes using univocal language, was the leitmotif of the project. Rigor on the choice of project materials, such as bamboo, travertine and steel, to be used for each new graft, caused a perfect recognition about the modern intervention. The dialogue of these new architectural elements with old elements such as ceilings chestnut wood and terracotta, the external facades in typical plaster Roman ocher colored, the landscape of the Renaissance domes, creates a feeling of pleasant consciousness for who is inside. The outdoor spaces are nothing short exciting. Rome stands in all its eloquence. The client, a major representative of the Italian literary world, clearly requested us to get the maximum effect to emphasize the historic landscape. The terrace slabs of basalt on structural legs raised, creates an effect so materially mild, that isn't possible to take away, even for a moment, the scene to the background of the Roman roofs and historical domes.
