Cutural Association / Trevi Fountain, Rome

Typical old shop belonging to Roman building texture of mid-nineteenth century. On the slopes of the Quirinale, Via Rasella, direct connection among Barberini Palace and the Trevi Fountain, sees its full development in the years following the Italian national unity. The typical elements of that period, such as brick, used as for the walls so for floors, is returned to the view with a work of coating removal and general cleaning. The pipes inside the Association belong to the building and we could not to move in any case. So they were wired, covered and used as real architectural elements, often constituting occasion of lighting environments in which these pipes persist. The problem of rising damp in the masonry is approached with the systems of counter walls mechanically ventilated. The contrast between the materiality of the item "brick", and the purity of the plans "white / gray", create an atmosphere with a metaphysical flavor.
